Custom software development, when configuration is not enough

Off-the-shelf platforms cover a great deal of what an organisation needs, but rarely all of it. Custom software development fills the gap: a process that is specific to your business, two systems that must share data or an app your teams need in the warehouse, on site or in front of customers.

If you already run Dynamics 365, Power Platform or Azure, new software should build on that investment rather than around it. We follow a simple order: configure what the platform already does, extend it where a gap remains and build something new only where it earns its place. Microsoft’s own guidance points the same way: for business logic in Dataverse, it recommends declarative options first and code only when they fall short.

Working in that order keeps your solution close to the product Microsoft maintains, which makes it easier to support and to update.

What we build

Our custom development, from custom apps to integrations and APIs, covers the Microsoft platform from the database to the user’s phone. We pick the component that fits each requirement rather than one tool for everything:

  • Dynamics 365 extensions: X++ extensions for Finance and Supply Chain, AL extensions for Business Central and .NET plug-ins for apps built on Dataverse.
  • Power Apps: canvas and model-driven apps, from a single form to a full line-of-business application, that run in the browser and in the Power Apps app on iOS, Android and Windows devices.
  • Power Pages: external websites and portals for customers, suppliers and partners, built on the same Dataverse data as your apps.
  • Azure applications and APIs in .NET and other supported languages, hosted on Azure App Service or Azure Functions.
  • Integrations built with Azure Logic Apps, Azure API Management and Power Platform custom connectors.
  • AI inside the application, such as agents built in Copilot Studio that act within roles and approvals.

Extending Dynamics 365 without blocking updates

Customisation is where ERP projects often create long-term cost. In Dynamics 365 finance and operations apps, the extension model lets us add fields, business logic, forms and reports in separate packages instead of changing Microsoft’s code. Microsoft can then service and update the platform without affecting your customisations. Overlayering, which overrides the shipped code in a higher layer, can increase the cost of upgrading to a new version, so we avoid it.

The same discipline applies across Dynamics 365: AL extensions for Business Central and plug-ins or Power Platform components for apps built on Dataverse. Every extension is documented, kept in source control and listed in a register, so it can be retested when Microsoft releases an update.

A move from Dynamics AX is often the right moment to retire old customisations rather than carry them forward, so we review each one against today’s standard features before rebuilding it.

Integration and APIs: connecting Dynamics 365 to your other systems

Few business systems work alone. Finance exchanges data with banks and tax platforms, warehouses with scanners and carriers, sales with the website and the CRM. We design each integration around clear ownership of the data: which system creates a record, which may change it and what happens when a message fails.

On Azure, Logic Apps orchestrates workflows across cloud and on-premises systems, API Management puts a governed gateway in front of your APIs and Functions runs event-driven code. On Power Platform, a custom connector wraps a REST API so that Power Apps, Power Automate and Copilot Studio can use it like any other connector. We choose the lightest tool that meets the volume, security and monitoring the integration needs.

Every integration gets logging and alerts, so failed messages are visible to the people who need to act on them.

Web and mobile apps in Arabic and English

We deliver in Arabic and English, and we design web and mobile apps for both languages from the first screen: right-to-left layouts, Arabic labels and messages, reports that read correctly in each language and names held in both Arabic and Latin script. Building this in from the start is simpler than adding it later.

DONOR 360, our charity CRM, follows the same rule: it works in Arabic and English equally, with full right-to-left support. We also build mobile apps on Power Platform, such as SyncroStocks, our warehouse app built on Power Apps and Power Automate, which works with Dynamics 365 Supply Chain and is listed on Microsoft Marketplace with a 5.0 rating.

Where data has to stay in a particular country, we agree hosting and region choices with you before we build.

Built to be run: testing, security and support

Custom code is only as good as the way it is tested, secured and supported. We apply application lifecycle management from the start: source control, separate development, test and production environments, automated deployment where the platform supports it and user sign-off before each release.

Monitoring is part of the build. Azure Functions, for example, integrates with Azure Monitor and Application Insights, so performance and errors are visible from the first release.

Sign-in runs through Microsoft Entra ID, and access follows least privilege, with roles that mirror your organisation. After go-live, our Managed Services team can monitor, maintain and improve what we built, with 24/7 support. If you prefer to run it yourselves, we hand over with documentation and knowledge transfer.

A software development company in Saudi Arabia, Jordan and Qatar

We work from offices in Jordan, Qatar and Saudi Arabia, and we also serve clients in Kuwait, the UAE and Oman. Local requirements shape the software as much as the business process does: Arabic as a first language of the interface, e-invoicing and tax integrations and rules on where data may be stored and who may access it.

We confirm these requirements at the start, review them with your compliance team against the regulations in force and design for them rather than adding them at the end. If you need extra hands on an existing development team rather than a full project, our IT outsourcing and staff augmentation service provides Dynamics 365, Power Platform and Azure developers.

09 — How we work

How we work

  1. Discover

We map the process with your team and sort each requirement: configure, extend or build.

  2. Design

We agree the architecture, data model, security roles and integrations before writing code.

  3. Build in increments

You review working software at regular checkpoints and adjust priorities as you learn.

  4. Test and release

Functional, integration and user acceptance testing, then a planned release.

  5. Run and improve

Support through Managed Services or a documented handover to your team.

10 — FAQ

Frequently asked questions

How much does custom software development cost?

It depends on scope and risk: the number of processes and screens, the integrations involved, security and compliance requirements, data migration, the hosting model and the support you need after go-live. We estimate after a short discovery, once the requirements are clear enough to price honestly.

How long does a custom development project take?

It depends on scope. A focused app or a single integration is a much smaller undertaking than a new line-of-business system with several integrations. We plan in increments, so you see working software early and can change priorities along the way instead of waiting for one release at the end.

Should we use low-code Power Apps or custom code?

Often both. Power Apps and Power Automate are quick to build and easy to change, which suits many internal apps and workflows. Custom code on Azure suits high transaction volumes, complex integrations and public-facing services with specific performance needs. We recommend the simplest option that meets the requirement and explain the trade-offs in cost, skills and maintenance.

Will customisations make Dynamics 365 updates harder?

They can, if they are built the wrong way. In finance and operations apps, Microsoft’s extension model keeps your changes separate from Microsoft’s code, so the platform can be serviced and updated without affecting them. We build extensions, not overlayered code, and keep a register of every customisation so it can be retested after an update.

Can you build apps in Arabic?

Yes. We deliver in Arabic and English, and we design for right-to-left layouts, Arabic content and bilingual data from the start rather than translating at the end.

Can you integrate Dynamics 365 with systems that are not from Microsoft?

Yes, where those systems offer an API or another supported interface. Power Platform custom connectors wrap REST APIs, Azure Logic Apps also works with SOAP services and on-premises systems and API Management governs the APIs you publish. We confirm every interface early, because integrations are often where project risk sits.

Who supports the software after go-live?

You decide. Our Managed Services team can take on monitoring, maintenance and enhancements with 24/7 support, or we hand over to your IT team with documentation and knowledge transfer. Ownership of code and environments is agreed in the contract before work starts.
